1922 - IRA DELIVER NOTICE TO MICHAEL COLLINS : "WE NO LONGER RECOGNISE YOUR AUTHORITY..."

1923 - A REBEL'S MOTHER GOES FOR A LAST WALK WITH HER SON...

'1920's Ireland : a high-ranking British 'Earl' who nixered (!) as an 'Imperial Staff' member wrote to a toff buddy of his about comparisons he noticed between the Irish rebels and those he claimed to have fought against in the Boer War...'

...and that's one of the twenty-four pieces we'll be posting here on Wednesday, 18th February, 2026, including one poignant article from the 1920's about an 'on-the-run' Volunteer who knew in his heart and soul that he was walking with his Mother for the last time.

'Munster, 1900's - in an area well-secured by the rebels, the British believed they could still transport munitions from one of their bases to another but, on this particular transportation journey, they were introduced to a reason as to why such movements were not advisable for them...'

'1920's - this rebel POW wasn't involved in the shootings that the British said he carried out and had over one dozen witnesses that placed him elsewhere ; he was offered an open door, literally, to simply walk out of prison, but refused, on a point of principle, because he was being charged with something he didn't do. He should have known that 'principle' would mean nothing to the British...'

And that's all yis are gettin' for now!

We'll fill yis in with the rest of the above, and 21 other happenings from our on-going pro-Irish campaigns, on Wednesday, 18th February, 2026.

Thanks for the visit, and for reading - appreciated! - see ye on Ash Wednesday, 18th.

Sharon and the team.

1920's - WORKING WITHIN, AND AGAINST, THE BELLY OF THE BEAST...

IRA OPERATIVES WITHIN THE FSA IN THE 1920's...

This IRA ASU in Leinster, in the 1920's, had a number of serving Free State Army soldiers working with it and, when the split over the Treaty of Surrender took place, the Unit stayed true to its roots and the IRA/FSA soldiers stayed as they were : working for the Cause from within the enemy camp...

That's one of about seventeen pieces we'll be posting about on Wednesday, 19th November 2025, and it's in relation to men who joined the Free State Army - but their hearts weren't in it.

They made contact with the rebels, and it was decided that they should remain within the belly of the beast, and work for the struggle from there...

A lecture delivered in a republican education class 36 years ago questioned the narratives surrounding the death in prison of a republican activist which three political institutions - Leinster House, Stormont and Westminster - continue to present as something other than it could have been, and possibly was...

1920's, Westminster - during a verbal exchange in which 'the Irish situation' was discussed, the dynamics of the fighting rebels and their ability to, apparently (!), indoctrinate a certain form of mechanical transportation raised a few heckles among the learned friends (!) present...!

...and we'd bleedin' love it if our own learned friends (!) could give us a look-see on the 19th for a few more paragraphs on the above three pieces, and a few words on about fourteen other bits and pieces!

Thanks for the visit, and for reading - appreciated.

Sharon and the team.

(...and we'll appreciate it all the more if ya call back on Wednesday, 19th November, 2025 - ya know ya wanna!)

"INNOCENT OF ALL CHARGES" - AFTER OVER 200 YEARS...

From the 1920's - an interesting story (sure aren't they all??!) about double-dealing between at least half-a-dozen very high-ranking British military and political leaders in relation to 'security issues' in the Six County area, during which the Leinster House administration in the so-called 'Free State' was referenced...

- that's one of about twenty pieces we'll be posting about on Wednesday, 5th November 2025, and sure there's bound to be at least one of them that'll catch yer attention!

If not that one, then wha' 'bout this -

An IRA statement from over 70 years ago bears an uncanny and corresponding similarity to the state of play today, in this State...

But if yer whistle is still not wet, try this -

Ireland, 1920's - an IRA 'General Order' was breached by IRA Officers and two foreign agents paid the price. The IRA Officers were notified that the Chief of Staff wanted to see them...

And if that don't do it for ya, sure ya can feck off...

...just make sure that yer back here on the 5th!

See y'all then, hopefully!

Sharon and the team.

FORGOTTEN IRA SOLDIER - FOR ALMOST 100 YEARS.

BURIED AT NIGHT, UNKNOWN LOCATION, UNMARKED GRAVE - FOR ALMOST 100 YEARS...

A shocking piece, from the 1920's in Munster, about an IRA Volunteer who was killed on active service, but circumstances at the time dictated that he would be buried by the IRA, with no marker or any other indication of who he was or how he died.

And there the poor man remained, for almost one-hundred years...

That's one of the pieces we'll be writing about on Wednesday, 22nd October 2025.

It'll be a six-part post, comprising about seventeen separate pieces, mostly from the 1920's, including...

...1920's, Westminster - behind-the-scene transcripts and quotes from British political and military figures in relation to the proposed establishment of a paramilitary grouping which was 'to aid the military powers in Ireland' but to do so at a distance - all knowledge of the gang was disavowed, even though it was financed by the British, 'under the counter'...

..and -

..in London, in the 1900's, a high-ranking political/military figure in Westminster wanted it put on the record (on their filing system 'Hansard') that, in Ireland, in a period of less than one year, more than 120 political meetings had been banned, almost two dozen newspapers had been suppressed, over one dozen businesses had been totally wrecked and closed down and almost one dozen other businesses had been either fire damaged or partially torched...

...wanna know more?

Course ya do!

Well, then - don't just give this partial promo piece a quick read over and then forget all about us : give us a shout and a rekkie on Wednesday, 22nd October 2025, and we'll tell ya the rest of the above pieces, and about fourteen others!

Thanks for the visit, and for reading - appreciated, seriously - but we'll take that back on the 22nd, if'n yer a no-show...!

IRISH 'REPUBLICANISM' AND THE STATE V THE 'IRELAND IS FULL' PEOPLE AND GROUPS.

1930's, IRELAND : KERRY-BORN IRA GHQ REPRESENTATIVE TRAVELS TO GERMANY FOR POLITICAL/MILITARY TALKS WITH FASCISTS.

That IRA leader travelled to Germany with a Nazi spy who was doing Hitler's bidding in three Irish counties and, although the IRA Commander is a household name - even today, nine decades later - his association with genuine fascists is less well known.

Also, in the 1940's, other IRA leadership figures again made contact with German fascists, knowing that they were fascists ; indeed, one of the Nazi spies that the IRA involved themselves with in the 1930's was again involved in the 1940's plan.

This time, however, the IRA Commander died in the middle of the mission.

Today, 2025, there are people and groups in Ireland who consider themselves 'Irish republicans/left wingers' who repeat and cling to the anti-republican State Establishment narrative/script that those of us who oppose the 'Come-One-Come-All/Open Borders' migrant situation in this State are "far-right fascists and Nazis" while at the same time unaware of, deny or refuse to speak about, republican links with genuine far-right, fascists and Nazis!

We'll be naming the people mentioned above (re the events in the 1930's and 1940's), writing more about this issue and posting more Irish republican/far-right/Nazi links, comments, dates, locations etc, on Wednesday, 8th October 2025, as part of a 14-piece blog post we'll be putting up here.

See y'all back here then, hopefully!

Sharon and the team.

A NUMBERS GAME...

14 ON THE 11 FOR (2nd LAST OF) 24...!

Oh I know..

..I'm not sure about using that graphic either, but - it's Christmas month, and the lads haven't had a proper break (...in the Canary Islands, like..) so I sez to meself ah sure let them away with it, what harm. Just if they pull another stunt like that, they're outta here..!

The translation of it, they tell me, is that we'll be posting 14 pieces on Wednesday, 11th December 2024, and it'll be our second-last post for this year. Yeah, I think the cold might have got to them...

Among the instances we'll be mentioning is one in which, in the 1900's in Ireland, Westminster noted that the natives (!) were not behaving themselves, so one top British politician wrote to another and expressed his concerns that not only were their operatives in Dublin Castle fighting the Irish rebels, politically and militarily, but they were fighting each other, too...

A few paragraphs about Irish republican smuggling operations in the early 1900's, mentioning ports in England, America and Ireland - but what was being smuggled...?

The city centre area of a town in Munster was wrecked by the Crown Forces in the early 1900's, costing literally millions of pounds worth of destruction but, two days later when, unusually, the carnage was raised in Westminster, water-proof fires (!) were mentioned as a possible cause if, indeed, something like that had indeed, actually, happened at all...

This Irish Archbishop wasn't as clever as he thought he was or, indeed, as clever as the British apparently considered him to be - his alter ego/nom de plume and his motives were known about by the IRA but they agreed to meet with him anyway...

...and there'll be at least ten other stories from our political and military past as well.

So, if you're passing this way again on Wednesday, 11th December 2024, drop in and see what we're gonna be on about. And if you're not passing this way - then make a bleedin' detour, don't have us to come lookin' for ya...!

Thanks for the visit, and for reading - see yis all on the 11th!

Sharon and the team.

IRELAND, 1900's - 'NO SHAME WOULD ATTACH TO A REFUSAL...'

IRELAND, 1900's - VOLUNTEERS HANDPICKED AS ASSASSINS.

The IRA leadership were aware that not all Volunteers would be capable of doing what they were about to be asked, and made it clear that no shame would attach to a refusal - that those that weren't prepared to go that far 'down in the mire' would be tasked elsewhere.

A core group put themselves forward, after their objective was explained, and their contact details were collected.

A second grouping of Volunteers, to operate as 'stand-ins', was organised to supplement the first group, when required, and .38's were exchanged for .45's...

...and that's just one of the eighteen pieces we'll be writing about, on Wednesday, 18th September 2024.

To our eternal shame, our impropriety and our dishonor, this fine Irish rebel woman was buried in a paupers plot in the 19th century. Despite the public pain and disappointment she endured, and the reasons she endured that suffering, she was discarded.

Mea culpa...

Wrestling with deaf dragons and gorillas who know nothing and care nothing in 19th century Ireland - rogues, called out by a 'toff' with 'royal' blood with a green tint...

England, 19th century - their 'Irish problem' had, once again, being brought to their doorstep as a result of 'suspicions the authorities had that these Irishmen were about to commit an offence'. The 'court case', such as it was, went ahead, even though the verdict had already been decided...

As stated, we have an 18-part post almost ready for Wednesday, 18th September 2024 : sure the only thing we ain't got yet is a promise from yerself that you'll pop-in then, but ya will, won't ya...?!

(PS - Hello to Josh, the 'old woman' [play on words there!] from North GGS who'll be joining us on the 18th : hope we don't let ya down or, if we do, that it's gently...!)

Thanks for the visit, and for reading : see y'all on the 18th!

Sharon and the team.

1920's - 'MISTAKEN IDENTITY' OR WRONG PLACE, WRONG TIME?

Galway, 1920's - living the good life as 'landlords' in Ireland, residing in a mansion, socialising in all the right places with all the right people (!) and chit-chatting about the more that 15,000 acres they 'owned'.

But then the people's representatives came calling...

...and that's just one of the 15 articles we'll be posting about here on Wednesday, 14th August 2024, in relation to one of the 'Big Houses' that locals and the IRA didn't want to see turned into a base for foreigners (...the more things change..) but the 'cops', the judiciary and the media were firmly on the side of the foreigners (..the more they stay the same!) but a solution of sorts was found and the issue was settled, if not agreed on...

Cork, 1920's - the man of the house was advised to put a stop to some of his daughters being overly friendly with British soldiers from the near-by barracks but to no avail : the romances (or whatever) continued and the man was arrested by the IRA and taken to a safe house. But he made the house 'unsafe' for himself...

London, early 1920's - a 'leaked' letter about the 'Irish Problem' (!) was a kite-flying operation by the higher-ups in Westminster and, after it had been used to stir the pot, the main man in Westminster owned-up as to why it was 'leaked' to the media and the world...

So do, please, give us a shout on the 14th : it gets lonely (sniff!) here with just the three of us, and we could do with your company.

Don't mind what our stats say - sure ya can still get lonely in a BIIGGG crowd, can't ya...?!

Thanks for the visit, and for reading ; hope to see ya again on Wednesday, 14th August 2024!

Sharon and the team.

IRELAND, ON-GOING : WINNERS NEVER QUIT AND QUITTERS NEVER WIN...

Meself and the team are working on a 20-piece blog post for Wednesday, 22nd May 2024, but sure we'll probably have another two or three items to add to it between this and then (...that's 'cause they can't shut me up!)

And, as there are local council/corporation and EU elections due to be held in this State on Friday, 7th June 2024, we'll have a few paragraphs-worth to say about that, including - and this is an EXCLUSIVE!!! - (thanks to our combined experience and connections : ya wha', Shar...?!) we'll be telling you who the winners and losers are!

So check-in with us on Wednesday 22nd and then off with ya to the bookies on Thursday 23rd for a 'sure-thing' bet on the outcome of those elections...!

And we'll have other 'sure-fire winners' for you, too -

During this on-going struggle to remove the British military and political presence from Ireland, the Pope in Rome was asked by the British (who had been priming him) to address a few words to the Irish in regards to them having the cheek (!) to fight back against the British. Well...he did, but Westminster went into a tail-spin when they heard what he said, and spun (!) into action again with a 'PR/Damage Control' operation to try and cover their own political arses...!

Ireland, 1920's - a road that the IRA had dug a trench across, to impede the progress of the British Forces from moving around the country, was filled-in by British troops and, as they presumed the IRA would open it up again, they weren't content to fill it in with just concrete and rubble...

Ireland, 1920's - the representatives of over 700 IRA Volunteers held a meeting to discuss logistics and an issue with their command structure was raised, discussed and voted on - a change was required and agreed on. But the IRA GHQ in Dublin thought otherwise...

From 1955 - The Irish Republican position on the Fianna Fáil grouping was discussed, especially in relation to how the media were playing with the issue...

From the 1850's - this Lady was born with the proverbial silver spoon in her mouth : wealthy parents, good family 'stock', regular income from 'owning' thousands of acres of land, famous connections and friends...but she wouldn't and didn't hold back when it came to speaking up about the imposed 'tilt' on the 'Scales of Justice'...

...and that's just a few of the pieces we'll be writing about on Wednesday, 22nd May 2024.

So - if for nothing else other than the tips for the bookies - give us a shout on the 22nd.

Thanks for the visit, and for reading : see y'all again, hopefully, mid-week!

Sharon and the team.

MILITARY AND PARAMILITARY 'HAWKS AND DOVES' IN IRELAND IN THE 1920's.

And we're back!

...and we were right about the family gig that kept us out of action last Wednesday : it took the two days before it to properly finalise it, and three days after it to recover from it.

As expected, when ya have two football-team-full of immediate family members to help organise, plus the 'subs', the back-room 'staff' and - of course - the 'fans'!

Anyway - we're working on a 15-part blog post that we should have ready for Wednesday, 15th May 2024, for all you refs and hawkeye's (!) out there to scrutinise, including a few more paragraphs on all of the following -

In the 1920's, two members of the Crown Forces were surrounded in a wooded area by IRA Volunteers and executed but, as they were leaving the scene, the Volunteers were noticed by a local girl who had spoken to the British about what she witnessed. She knew questions were being asked about her and, true enough, a knock came to her door. But...

1900's - a conference, held abroad, was thought to be the perfect venue for Irish republicans to make their case for Irish freedom but, five months into it, they realised that the cards were stacked against them...

1920's - a love-letter (not!), on branded notepaper that the recipient themselves used, was dropped through letterboxes quoting a Biblical verse. But those that delivered those missives soon had reason to read the words themselves...

1920's - British military and paramilitary 'hawks and doves' in Ireland squawked at each other when the big vulture in Westminster played 'favourites'...

1920's - on this, the second attempt on his life, his attackers were successful. All involved were IRA Volunteers, but the real reason for the attack remains shrouded in half-truths, rumour and/or purposeful misdirection. Or does it...?

So, if you're interested in the full-time results (groan!) for the above, and about another ten pieces, then score with us (groan again...) on Wednesday, 15th May 2024.

And apologises for the above pitch...

Thanks for reading - see ye on Wednesday, 15th May 2024!

Sharon and the team.

1921, 1973, 1985 and 1998 - FALSE DAWNS PROMOTED BY POLITICAL CHARLATANS.

Es genial estar de vuelta con los amigos!

It's great to be back among friends!

The weather's against me - the rain, chilly winds, gloomy skies - compared to the two weeks I had in Lanzarote with the Girl Gang, but there really is no place like home!

The two lads have been hard at the research for our blog post in my absence, with just a few loose ends for me to sort out so, as it's looking now, we'll have a fourteen-piece post ready to go for Wednesday, 10th April 2024, including a few paragraphs on each of the following -

State politicians spoofing and spinning their spiel to sell the electorate something that they already bought - and, with the assistance of a compliant and purchased media, it worked for them...

From 1955 - inferiority complexes, superiority complexes and braggart and superior attitudes to hide an inferiority complex...

From 1919 - a call from Irish republicans to ostracise the RIC was listened to by the majority of the population and the actions of the RIC themselves caught the attention of those who wavered in the face of that call...

In the early 1920's, this Irish rebel spoke out so loudly and repeatedly against the British military and political presence in Ireland that his voice was also heard in Leinster House. And, not only did those State politicians not like what they were hearing, but they organised a response...

This 'Mayoman' was there when so-called 'landlords' were confronted by their tenants, when cattle and sheep were used to deliver a message, and when a 'law enforcement officer' was involuntarily brought for a swim...

...and at least nine other pieces.

Thanks for poppin' in, and we're hoping yis will pop in again on Wednesday, 10th April 2024 (...I'll be out from under the sun-lamp by then!).

See ya on Wednesday,

Sharon and the team.

LETTERS, TELEGRAMS, CORRESPONDENCE AND DEADLINES...

We're gonna outdo ourselves this Wednesday, 6th March, 2024, as we're putting together a 27-part post in which letters and telegrams will feature in some of them - communications between a Mr Michael Collins and a Mr Winston Churchill in relation to a part of Ireland abandoned by one but not the other, and correspondence between two 'Prime Ministers of the Empire' in relation to the grubby issue of finance and 'policing' in the occupied area - talk about begging letters and the need to keep sending them...!

We also came across, in one of our 1920's vaults, details of letters/telegrams between the IRA and the Leinster House Free State administration in which the Republicans didn't hold back, and included a deadline in their script, and a letter sent from one IRA leader to another, querying as to what was going on in one particular area of the country.

And we have way more than that - as stated, it's a 27-part post, so - hopefully - you'll find something of interest in it for yerself!

So don't forget 1169 on the 6th for 27...!

Thanks for the visit, and for reading : see ya on Wednesday, 6th March 2024!

Sharon and the team.

SPANISH SIESTA - ALMOST RECOVERED...!

DIA DHUIT. TÁIMID AR AIS...SAGHAS AR..!

Hola! ¡Estamos de vuelta... más o menos...!

Hello! We're back...sort of..!

Shivering here, in wet and windy 14°C in Ireland, compared to the sun-drenched 27°C we enjoyed in España!

And we had a Ball ; weather, shopping, sight-seeing, food, few (!) drinks, great company, and even more shopping. And we never even needed bail money, 'cause the Spanish cops were very understanding...!

We enjoyed it so much that the five of us actually went ahead and...ah sure ya wouldn't be interested, probably just think that I'm rubbing yer noses in it, been bitchy, like...

..but I'll more than likely say a few extra words about it on Wednesday, 7th February 2024, when we post our 20-piece offerings - yeah, that's right - we'll have a 20 piece post ready for yis all (...including our friends in the Gorbals who, we're told, will be looking in with interest!) and we'll be covering the following issues, and way more -

In the early 1920's, this Stormont Minister asked for, and received, a report/update on a certain loyalist 'club' and this was given to him by a high-ranking RUC member : a well-known book author apparently got wind of the transaction and had a few words to say about it as, indeed, did the high-ranking RUC member...

In 1915, Irish republicans knew that a political and military storm was coming and soul-searched to find an alternative path to remove the British political and military presence from Ireland but, when they found that no such alternative existed, they readied themselves for the inevitable...

Which highly placed British politician's wife sat him down and wagged her finger at him about how he was mistreating the Irish, asking him directly if he would put up with such abuse if he found himself in the position that he and his had placed the Irish in...?

This 'royal' regiment of the British Army had to pack-up from their headquarters in County Kildare and prepare themselves for their return from whence they came. We don't actually know how they felt about it, nor do we care...

From the early 2000's - the problems that beset Ireland then can be seen, today, as only a temporary inconvience, although it didn't seem so at the time...

This particular organisation, rooted in Ireland, managed to spread its tentacles worldwide, but met a 'speed bump' in Louisiana, in the United States...

Ireland, early 1920's, a group of young lads were playing in a field when English soldiers played a 'game' of their own with them - blood was spilt...

...and that's only seven out of the twenty pieces we're gonna have for ya on Wednesday, 7th February, 2024, plus there'll be a few words said about our Spanish Stroll...!

Right : 'nuff said for now - see yis on the 7th!

Thanks for reading,

Sharon and the team.
