These two brothers fought on the same side to 'break the connection with England' then fought against each other, politically, in Leinster House...// From the early 19th Century - the labourer and the idler were commented on by this Irish dissident and, even though he himself came from a comfortable background, he threw his lot in with the labouring class, taking up arms to try and better their quality of life...// In 1920, a Proclamation in relation to the RIC was issued publicly by the IRA in which those "spies and traitors" were left in no doubt as to their fate should they persist in "holding the country for the enemy.." // From 1955 - this 'secret oath-bound' republican organisation was so secretive that it's own members weren't aware that they were a 'secret oath-bound' organisation...// In the 18th Century, in Ireland, this 'council of eminent men' got a rude awakening when they realised that less 'eminent' people weren't willing to take their advice and put the pike in the thatch. So they proclaimed that Ireland was in a state of rebellion and declared martial law.
