THE UNSUNG HEROES OF OUR STREETS...
'But for now, let us give three cheers
And shout BRAVO!
For the unsung heroes of our streets,
who thanklessly brave the wind and rain,
to do an honest days work,
in a thankless task that must be done...'
(...but thanks, definitely [and apologies!], from us, to Bryan W!)
Ireland, 20th Century : the British political and military leaderships were wary of 'permitting' Irish work crews from established, organised entities to 'repair/prepare the land for them', so they put together their own teams but, not only did that not work out for them, it actually worked against them and, in the long run, worked in favour of the original work crews...
...and this particular 'work crew' here in '1169 Towers' are working on a 20-piece blog post for Wednesday, 5th February 2025, in which we'll be filling in (!) the missing parts of the above tale of (road)woe.
And we'll also be writing a few paragraphs about a man who was born in Ireland in the mid-18th Century and matured into a well-known and well-respected doctor, a man of medicine...and a political radical.
The British claimed he was seditious and a danger to society but, like all such Irish rebels, he was really a danger to their continuing 'misadventures' in Ireland. He laid low in another country for a while, but remained an Irish radical...
So...
..be a radical yerself and give us a look-see on Wednesday, 5th February 2025, for the above pieces and about 18 others.
And thanks for dropping in - it's appreciated!
Sharon and the team.
