THE TROUBLE WITH HARRY.......
Twenty-six men were convicted on the word of Harry Kirkpatrick. On their appeal against those convictions could well rest the future of the 'Anglo-Irish Agreement'
('The Hillsborough Treaty')
. Based on a full transcript of the Kirkpatrick trials , the story of how these convictions were obtained shows why the 'Supergrass System' is a pale shadow of justice.
By Derek Dunne. From 'MAGILL' magazine, February 1986.

Harry Kirkpatrick claimed that a two-door car had been hijacked for a killing in 1981 and that it had been dumped in the Markets area of Belfast afterwards. It was a two-door car , but had been left back to its owner after the operation, and a witness description of the gunman involved corresponded more to Gerard Barkley , a friend of Kirkpatricks and his brother-in-law, than it did to the man named by Kirkpatrick, and Seanie McConkey , another RUC informer, claimed that different people altogether had taken part in that job. However , Gerard Steenson and two other men, Fitzpatrick and Power, were convicted of 'murder' .

Kirkpatrick had claimed that himself , Carroll , Grew and Steenson planned to kill a man in Armagh in 1981 ; he said they waited for twenty-five minutes before calling the operation off even though he had previously stated that they had allowed for a four hour wait. Kirkpatrick claimed that Grew had held a full household of people hostage as part of that operation , even though he admitted that Grew was not armed. Grew and Steenson were reluctantly acquitted.

Kirkpatrick claimed that Henry McNamee was involved in an attempted killing of a UDR soldier in 1981, but McNamee was in jail at the time and couldn't have been involved - but Kirkpatrick was dogmatic about McNamee , to the extent that British Judge Carswell stepped-in to declare that Kirkpatrick was obviously "mistaken" rather than it being a case of him "deliberately falsifying" his 'evidence' . A man named Molloy was supposed to have given an account of the operation to Kirkpatrick , but that account was inaccurate . British Judge Carswell couldn't resolve whether that was the fault of Kirkpatrick , Molloy or another man , named Fox - but nonetheless he convicted Steenson and a man named Power of 'attempted murder' on the 'strength' of that 'evidence' !

CIA SLAMS IRISH JUDGE.......
A Dublin District Justice was accused by American embassy intelligence personnel of encouraging left wing agitators and tolerating hostile acts against the United States.......
From 'MAGILL' magazine, 'Christmas Special' 1980.

One section of the CIA file on Mairin de Burca (it should be noted that the FBI deals only with occurrances within the USA , whereas the CIA deals with 'enemies' abroad) is composed of a number of newspaper clippings , one of which - from 'The Baltimore Sun' of April 1972 - carries an interview with Thomas MacGiolla, President of Official Sinn Fein . MacGiolla remarks that the party's recent activities included sending its Secretary , Mairin de Burca , "...to the Middle East to attend some big conferences organised by Al Fatah last year..." Five months later , this turns up in de Burca's file as - "...has several times visited Arab guerrillas in the Middle East , presumably for training in revolutionary tactics.."

From such little acorns grow the oaks of visa refusals , phone tapping , special courts and the like. It is important to remember that when the cops here stand up in court and swear that "to my knowledge" so-and-so has done this or that , their knowledge is like as not gathered on the same basis as the above !

5th October 1970 , Dublin : Richard Milhaus Nixon waved and smiled , waved and smiled , smiled and waved and smiled . Then he ducked as an object came hurtling towards his head.......

THE CAMPAIGN AGAINST HEROIN IN DUBLIN....... The drugs crisis is one of the major problems facing young people in Dublin today. In large areas of the city it has now reached massive proportions , while in the inner city there is estimated to be a higher percentage of drug addicts and drug abusers than in Harlem in New York . But it has been only recently - 5 years after this epidemic began in earnest - that any notice has been paid to the problem. And even now the Free State government has failed to confront the crisis in a meaningful way . Tony Barry of Na Fianna Eireann has been looking at the issues for 'IRIS' magazine.
From 'IRIS' magazine, December 1984.

The frustration existing on this score can be well illustrated , however, by the State Customs and Excise Union's submission to the State Oireachtas Select Committee on Crime , Lawlessness and Vandalism in April 1984 : they pleaded for the provision of such basic drug detection facilities as sniffer dogs, baggage x-ray equipment and vehicle examination bays . Virtually every customs service in the world possesses such facilities , yet with a major drugs importation problem this State does not !

In addition , the CPAD groups have called for the provision of drop-in centres in each drugs-affected community to give kids who have kicked the drugs habit the encouragement to stay clean : at present there are only two such centres in Dublin.

These demands were put by the CPAD groups to Fianna Fail opposition spokesperson on health , Michael Woods, in September 1984 and he at least listened to them - but then he would , wouldn't he , as he's not in power and can't actually do anything! The person who could do something is the State health minister , Barry Desmond. And he wouldn't even listen to them.......

(NOTE - CLONDALKIN CDP/JI/CE PROTEST, MONDAY 19 OCTOBER 2009: WRITE-UP AND PICS HERE.)

4......13......79......200...... - BRIEF REPORT AND A FEW PICS RE THE 79'r BALLAD SESSION...

Padjo 'warming up' the crowd...

Stage spotlight on the new RSF Cumann banner....

Stage back-drop: the new Maire Drumm/Kevin Barry RSF Cumann banner....

Beer Mats on stage....

Padjo and Padráig playing 'The Lonesome Boatman'.....

4 - the number of members in the group , 'The Beer Mats' ; Colm, Brian, Tony and Francis . Thanks , lads - ye were fantastic !

The thirteen raffle prizes , all won on the night.....

Raffle prizes - "Ya have a winner , ya pick yer prize....!"

13 - the number of prizes on offer - and won - in the raffle on the night , including two Republican bodhráns , four Republican mirrors, three woodburn Republican prints , a framed 1916 Proclamation and a framed Irish National Anthem. A lot of prizes , sure enough , but not near enough for everyone in the audience! Also , as stated on the night, most of the prizes were made by Republican POW's in Maghaberry and Portlaoise Prisons.

79 - the name of the pub where the event was held. The staff and management extended every courtesy to us , and were a great help to the RSF organising committee on the night , and in the days before the event was held. They played a major part in ensuring that the night went without a hitch!

A section of the crowd.....

...more of the crowd....

...and our final crowd scene.

200 - the number of tickets sold for the event and , it seems, the actual amount of people that attended! It was standing room only , so much so that extra chairs and high stools had to be carried up , on more than one occasion, to the function room from the bar and lounge areas downstairs. At one stage the organisers were talking about having to close the doors , and refund people in the queue their money back although , thankfully , it never actually got to that point, but it came very close to it!

The RSF organisers thanked the pub staff and owners , the audience and the group , for the great night that all three combined to make happen. An RSF representative also mentioned that the Beer Mats will , as usual, be making an appearance at the annual 'Hope And Remembrance' Mass , to be held this year on Tuesday 20th October in Fettercairn Community Centre in Tallaght at which, amongst other things, those who died from the misuse of drugs will be remembered. Also mentioned was the proposed loss of over 6,500 jobs in the Community Sector and this protest march against same but the biggest cheer - a standing ovation - was received when the speaker talked about "...the biggest scourge and disease in Ireland :the continuing British military and political presence in six of our counties which will never be accepted by Republican Sinn Féin..."
Finally - special thanks to Phyllis and Angela Nolan , who flew in specially (!) from Australia for the gig , to Bernadette and her fella , to Matt , Mags , Liam , Robbie , Andy , Barney , Frankie , Des from Limerick , Dan from Crumlin - and apologises to those who I don't mention. The damn cider was very tasty and distracted me...
Thanks!
Sharon.

The organisers have reported that all distributed entry tickets have been returned , sold, and that they have held back 30 such tickets for sale at the door on the night so , as we say here in Dublin - " First up, best dressed..." / "Longest arm, best fed..." In other words - if you're going to the gig , but haven't got a pre-paid entry ticket , be there between 9pm and 9.30pm and you should still get in!
Thanks!
Sharon.

Harry Kirkpatrick gave 'evidence' about a post office robbery in 1980 in which he claimed to be involved ; he said he wore a scarf and his companion wore a mask , but witnesses contested this. So Kirkpatrick changed his 'evidence' saying that he was wearing nothing on his face and that the second man was wearing the scarf !

One woman claimed that one of the robbers had put his arm around her neck and that the burglar alarm had gone off , yet Kirkpatrick never mentioned these incidents - so British Judge Carswell ruled that the woman was mistaken. Gerard Steenson and two other men , Conway and McGrann , were nevertheless convicted.

Kirkpatrick said that the Carroll brothers and Oliver Grew were involved in the killing of a British Army 'Territorial' soldier in Armagh in 1980 , but then Kirkpatrick forgot all about the involvement in this incident of Oliver Grew in subsequent statements he gave to the RUC and, when this was brought to his attention, he simply said that he forgot about his involvement! The forensic evidence did not tally with the account given by Kirkpatrick of that incident , but Gerard Steenson was still convicted , while Oliver Grew was acquitted.......

CIA SLAMS IRISH JUDGE.......
A Dublin District Justice was accused by American embassy intelligence personnel of encouraging left wing agitators and tolerating hostile acts against the United States.......
From 'MAGILL' magazine, 'Christmas Special' 1980.

The original refusal to give Mairin de Burca a visa to enter America is understandable in the light of the information in her file , on which that decision was based . It would appear, from this file, that as a danger to society as we know it , de Burca ranks about equal with the destruction of the ozone layer !

The file lists , from information supplied by the Gardai, a number of convictions - all minor and stemming from demonstrations against the Vietnam War , the housing scandal and other such occasions of 'sin' . Given the contemporary view of that period, such convictions can be proudly regarded as 'campaign medals' in the fight for a less murderous world , but in that file they amounted to 'proof' of the "moral turpitude" of a person who was "...a well known fanatic agitator who was once described in a local press interview as "sracastic (sic) , sharp tounged (sic) , stubborn gritty and sometimes severe..." "

"Sracastic" and sharp "tounged" , and even 'sarcastic' and sharp 'tongued' , Mairin de Burca may be on occasion but anyone with more than a gnat's knowledge of Irish politics knows that she was never involved with the militarist aspects of republicanism. It is interesting , however, to see how a case is built up by the 'spooks'.......

From 'IRIS' magazine, December 1984.

What is very clear , however, is that Barry Desmond's 'concern' with the heroin crisis, like the 'concern' of many other establishment politicians , has cynically manifested itself only in the wake of the establishment's very real concern about (P) Sinn Féin's growing popularity within Dublin's working-class communities.

Barry Desmond has consistently directed his hostility against the Concerned Parents Against Drugs group and what he terms republican/'subversive' involvement in the fight against heroin. Instead of genuinely trying to combat a problem that has killed young people and ruined the lives of hundreds more, and torn families and whole communities apart , Barry Desmond has instead played party politics and refused to meet delegations from the various 'Concerned Parents' groups which contained individual (P) Sinn Féin members.

The 'CPAD' movement, representing groups in 24 Dublin communities , has identified the importation of drugs as the key problem to be dealth with ; individual CPAD groups can rid their own communities of drug pushers , but as long as heroin is available the problem will only shift elsewhere. The State Customs service is aware of that fact , but the politicians in Leinster House will not listen to them , either.......

BEER MATS.....AND DEALING WITH SLOP.

As well as other spot prizes to be raffled off at the ballad session this weekend, the two items pictured - a Bodhrán , made this year by the Republican POW's in Portlaoise Gaol and a framed Irish National Anthem - are bound to be two of the most sought-after prizes. And, as with the low cost of entry to the gig (€5 per person) , the price of the raffle tickets has been kept down by the organisers - five raffle tickets for €2 or fifteen for a fiver! 30 entry tickets have , as usual , been held back for sale on the night , and all entry tickets which were distributed have been returned paid in full : see you in the 79'r pub in Ballyfermot , Dublin, on Saturday 17th October 2009 . Doors open at 9pm , and all are welcome!

THE SLOP :

One down , 165 more to go. Because there are 166 political wasters , robbers and useless tax fleecing non-productive time-servers in Leinster House , not just the one who resigned today. However - par for the course for this pig ignorant waster, Lord O'Donoghue couldn't just admit that he had been caught with his hand deep in the taxpayers pocket : amongst other claps on the back that he gave himself , he declared that he had "...no regrets..... I am not guilty of any corruption, I never took money or have used my office for my own enrichment......" Like Hell you didn't, O'Donoghue - the only people who gave you a round of applause today were your crooked colleagues in that corrupt institution , and they done so because they recognise that there but by the grace of God , go I. Our only regret is that you were not forced to pay the stolen loot back to the taxpayers and then imprisoned alongside other common criminals.
Sharon.

The Trouble With Harry / CIA Slams Irish Judge / Fighting Back - Heroin In Dublin / Lord and Lady O'Donoghue Exposed and Deposed.

In March 1982 , Harry Kirkpatrick signed a statement saying that he had told the RUC everything he had been involved in . But that was not the case. He made more statements in the following years implicating more people , and one of those 'new statements' related to a 'conspiracy to kill an RUC member' at the Royal Victoria Hospital - the three men he accused of being involved in that 'conspiracy' were all convicted and imprisoned as a result.

During a robbery , Kirkpatrick denied that a struggle took place at the Royal Victoria Hospital , but that version was contradicted by witnesses at the scene . He described the shooting of a UDR man by Gerard Steenson and Gerard Barkley in December 1980 ; according to Kirkpatrick , both men ran back towards the car , but independent witnesses say that only one man was involved in the shooting and that there were two men in the waiting car . So Kirkpatrick changed his 'evidence' on this in 1984 , realising that he must be wrong. Gerard Steenson was convicted anyway.

Kirkpatrick said that there was an attempted robbery at the Royal Victoria Hospital on a certain date , even though there was no evidence to suggest that this event had ever taken place . Gerard Steenson was convicted of this , too. Then Kirkpatrick gave 'evidence' about a post office robbery in late 1980 in which he claimed to be involved.......

CIA SLAMS IRISH JUDGE.......
A Dublin District Justice was accused by American embassy intelligence personnel of encouraging left wing agitators and tolerating hostile acts against the United States.......
From 'MAGILL' magazine, 'Christmas Special' 1980.

The FBI agent's accuracy is such that should he ever be fired for bugging the wrong presidential candidate he is assured of a job with 'The Irish Independent' 'newspaper' : he gave this explanation of the "outbreak of conflict in 1968" - "...in 1968 a march for unity in Ireland was held and Great Britain provoked a military attack ....Great Britain sent armed police to loot and to kill Irish citizens.." Irish people are of the opinion that the "armed police" (ie the B Specials and the RUC) were already in Belfast at that time!

The FBI report includes references to " The Irish Republican Party , the National IRA , the IRM.." , and other mythical groupings , all of which help to explain the blundering US foreign policy in relation to this issue : when they have to make a decision about Iran , Vietnam , Chile , Cambodia or any other of their disaster areas , they consult their files - which are put together by the agents who filed the above.

Such mass gathering of routine 'facts' and diverse information is a standard practice , indulged in even by the Special Branch here , and is known as gathering 'low level intelligence' and , given the cerebral facilities of the people involved in it, this seems a most appropriate term.......

THE CAMPAIGN AGAINST HEROIN IN DUBLIN....... The drugs crisis is one of the major problems facing young people in Dublin today.

The Free State Minister for Health, Barry Desmond, at a conference on drugs held in February 1984 , announced two measures : that he "...would sponsor an informal meeting of the health ministers of EEC countries , and that half of the agenda I would propose to devote to the problem of drug abuse.." and " ...that a national (sic) co-ordinating committee on drug abuse be set up.."

Neither of these measures will go anywhere near tackling the problem in a meaningful fashion . The proposed co-ordinating committee is a worthy idea, but in reality it is only giving a new name and more formal structure to the 'Task Force on Drug Abuse' that already exists . Of course , in Free State politics , it's not doing something but giving the impression of doing something that counts. At that same conference , Barry Desmond echoed the claims made by the sensational media , and denied by local communities , when he alleged that "...paramilitaries are cashing in on the drugs problem in Dublin."

Whether he meant to imply that republicans were materially involved in drug pushing (which everyone, including Barry Desmond , knows is untrue) or whether - with an eye on (P) Sinn Féin's strong showing in last December's Dublin Central by-election when it outpolled the Labour Party - he was referring to the involvement of individual republicans in the anti-drugs campaign at community level, was deliberately left ambiguous . Less ambiguous, however , is the real reason for his 'concern'.......

Lord O'Donoghue ,Irish 'royalty'. (Click to enlarge.)

Just as Sir O' Donoghue did with his expenses - 'click to enlarge': he clicked his heels as many times as he liked and was magically transported to anywhere in the world he wanted to go , with Lady O' Donoghue in tow , at no expense to himself. He stayed in the finest hotels and ate food fit for a king , as did all who travelled with him. And it didn't cost any of them a cent. Mr O'Donoghue and his like are a symptom of the problem , not the cause of it : the root of the festering sore which gives us the O'Donoghue's of this corrupt Statelet is Leinster House and the political pirates who sail in her. They can be removed one-by-one (Ahern, Haughey and Lowry, to name but three) but, in our opinion, the whole 166 of them , and their 'support staff' , should be rounded-up and - at the very least - sent to prison after they have re-paid the State funds they robbed , with no 'Golden Parachute' pay off and, obviously, no pension. This didn't happen to them and it won't happen to Lord O'Donoghue either. We have only postponed solving the issue of State corruption. Again.

Food for thought re the Lisbon 'Yes' vote :
A friend of ours , from outside Ireland, contacted us today in connection with an article he came across regarding the 2nd October 'Yes' vote on the Lisbon Treaty/Constitution. It was our recent comment re the noted , and most unusual , absence of the State Garda Síochána from out/inside the polling stations on the day of voting which caught his attention. The terminology used in the article would not be usually found on this or any other Irish Republican blog/site but , that aside, parts of same should not be dismissed due to that fact alone. It's a lengthy article , but worth reading. Have a look for yourself....

"(We are) the envy of Europe..."

"(We are) incredible value for money.(Our expenses are) just adequate.No-one makes any money out of politics and if anybody says they do , I would like to meet them. Give credit where credit is due. What has been done for Ireland in the past 12 years by public representatives from all political parties has been incredible, the envy of Europe, as a matter of fact."
- Free State Fianna Fail Senator Donie Cassidy, in a recent interview with a newspaper reporter.

"Incredible" is right. But typical of his type.. These parastic non-productive millionaires are indeed "incredible" , in that their ego knows no bounds:they have purposely isolated themselves from the world that their 'subjects' inhabit and see themselves as entitled to an even 'grander' lifestyle than they already have. They see themselves as 'Irish Royalty'.
These are the same gang of corrupt , unprincipled crooks that will benefit from the recent 'Yes' vote on the Lisbon 2 Treaty/Constitution , and they will benefit at the expense of ourselves , our children and their children. This blog would like to echo the statement released by Republican Sinn Féin
(see below) and offer our thanks to the 33 per cent of those who voted for voting 'NO'.
We can't let the Donie Cassidy's of this world away with it.....

Republican Sinn Féin Statement on the Lisbon 2 vote:

"EU STATE COMES CLOSER TO FRUITION.
Republican Sinn Féin congratulates the 33% of the electorate in the 26-Counties who refused to be bought by the outright lies of the “Yes” side in the repeat Lisbon referendum.
Once again the 26-County state has shown that by ignoring the will of its people they can achieve their desired outcome. Furthermore, on this occasion, campaigners for a “No” vote were denied equal coverage in the media. This was coupled with advertisements from the Referendum Commission which were clearly favourable to the “Yes” side. Despite widespread criticism of the Iranian Presidential election, a compliant media is prepared to ignore coercion of voters by the EU and its subordinates.
EU Commission President Barroso previously described the EU as an “Empire”, and it is clear that without intervention all Nations within the EU are set to become stateless.
Great responsibility lies with Czech President Vaclav Klaus to ensure that this does not happen. He must defend the voiceless throughout the EU and refuse to sign this death-warrant for nation-states.
It should also be noted that Brian Lenihan has admitted that talk of job-creation and economic recovery in the event of a “Yes” vote was a lie. And despite claims that it was in the interests of democracy to allow voters to change their mind, there is no suggestion that they will again be allowed to adjudicate on the EU Constitution under the guise of the Lisbon Treaty."

1 - 1. One All. A Draw.

On 12th June 2008 , the 'NO!' side won.
On 2nd October 2009 , the 'Yes' side won.

But , after the first 'match' , the referee and his business backers, who didn't like the result , forced a re-match and promised all sorts of 'goodies' if they won the second 'match' : unfortunately , it worked and , on Friday 2nd October 2009 , the game began and, the following day , they were 'officially' announced as the 'winners'. The rest of us, therefore , must be the 'losers'. And how.
This is a space that Irish Republicans have been in many times , and no doubt will be again. We have a history of waging a guerrilla campaign against our better-'armed' opponents (ie the State , its financial backers , its 'security' forces etc) and, whilst we have won on occasion , we have tasted defeat many times. But we have always re-grouped , tended to our (well-licked!) wounds - and carried on with our campaign. Just as we are doing now. The State has branded us as 'criminals' , the media ('official' and so-called 'independent') either ignore us or purposely misrepresent our intentions and the 'security' forces hound , harass and imprison us. But we are still here . And we intend to stick around for a long time yet!
See you out on the hustlings.....
Thanks!
Sharon.

BE A GOOD 'PATRIOTIC' TURKEY AND VOTE 'YES' FOR LISBON....

The same gang of unprincipled political incompetents that are bringing you this, amongst other injustices , want you to vote 'Yes' for Lisbon 2 for , amongst other injustices , this reason : they are already extremely wealthy (financially , not morally) but are not satisfied with that - they want you to secure their financial future by voting 'Yes' to Lisbon because in doing so you will guarantee their continued financial prosperity. Don't be a 'turkey' - play your part in bringing them down to earth by voting 'NO!' to this faulty Lisbon Treaty/Constitution today , Friday 2nd October 2009!

Also - experienced observers will have noted the absence of State Garda who are usually positioned around polling stations as 'security' : a whisper is doing the rounds that the State Garda force has been instructed to 'relax' its presence for the vote today - if not to disappear altogether - thus helping to facilitate the manipulation of the true outcome of the poll. Either way - whether by lying about the alleged 'benefits' of the Lisbon Treaty/Constitution or by ballot manipulation - the political 'elite' in this State are determined to secure their own financial positions and will stop at nothing to do so. Don't assist them .

VOTE NO TO LISBON !
Thanks!
Sharon.

At the 'trial' , the British Army Marines were not really sure what weapon was fired at them : it could have been a high , or low, velocity weapon . One of them , who had given a description of the alleged gunman which was quite clear , could not remember what that mans face looked like in court . In fact , he claimed that smoke from the gun obscured his view! But there was no such 'obscurity' when he made his original statement.

But the description he gave in no way resembles either Gerard Steenson or Paddy McAreevey who were charged with the shooting , but it did resemble Kirkpatrick's friend Gerard Barkley. Kirkpatrick consistently denied putting other people in incidents in order to protect his friend , and showed no remorse for this or for anything he had done , despite admitting in court that he was a drug taker , a drunkard , liar , perjurer and a murderer !

He made many serious mistakes in giving 'evidence' and changed his account from time to time between March 1982 and the 'trial' . We have compiled a list of those 'mistakes' , starting from when Harry Kirkpatrick signed a statement for the RUC in which he claimed to have told them about everything he had been involved in . But that's not true.......

CIA SLAMS IRISH JUDGE.......
A Dublin District Justice was accused by American embassy intelligence personnel of encouraging left wing agitators and tolerating hostile acts against the United States.......
From 'MAGILL' magazine, 'Christmas Special' 1980.

On October 14th , 1976 , Mairin de Burca made a speech at St. Catherine's College , St. Paul , Minnesota ; the FBI used this opportunity to gather some information about events in Ireland , information which still resides in their files and, even now, may be in use to brief their internal/external security operatives. But the FBI agent who wrote the 'St Catherine's College Report' appears to have been drunk whilst doing so -

" Today the conflict is due to the separation of counties in Northern Ireland. The majority of the citizens of Ireland did not want separation from Great Britain or Catholic control . The history of the revolution has been by force of arms and has been a tradition up until 1962..." One can see that there is a mind at work here . Somewhere. It isn't quite sure what it is doing , but it's determined to understand 'the Irish problem' and report on it to its master.

The FBI agent continued - " In 1965 , the Irish Republican movement was founded. This was a departure from the Socialist Movement and a new departure from traditional armed conflict. The Communist Party of Ireland was founded at this time in 1965..." Now this will more than likely come as a shock to those such as Mick O' Riordan who have been battling away for the best part of 50 years! The rest of that sentence won't make things any clearer , either. Remember , according to that FBI agent, the CPI was founded in 1965 , which was the same year that "...the minority of the population moved to the Left for traditional religious reasons.." !

That Bright Spark of an FBI agent then attempted to explain "the military attacks" in the Six Counties to his boss.......

Inevitably, given the garda antagonism to the anti-drugs campaign , there have been numerous incidents of intimidation of campaigners by the drug-pushers themselves , including attempts to run them down and several occasions on which guns have been produced by the pushers.

Yet, unlike several other times when known pushers have complained to the gardai about 'intimidation' from anti-drug campaigners , no action was taken by gardai in the aftermath of any of these incidents. On another occasion , in the north-side of Dublin City , (P) Sinn Féin's Christy Burke (secretary of the Hardwicke Street tenants' association and involved in the Inner City Drugs Action Group) was taking part in a community 'chant about' in a block of flats when the Special Branch ('Political Police') arrived in force and approached Burke ; they speedily withdrew, however, when they recognised two of those with him (along with over 300 residents) to be Fine Gael Leinster House member Michael Keating and Independent Leinster House member Tony Gregory.

Unfortunately , Dublin Central is just about the only area where elected representatives have lent their support to the anti-drugs campaign . In the vast majority of cases , politicians have 'hummed and hawed' , issued pious statements of 'concern' , and then done absolutely nothing.......

MARY HARNEY REJOINS FIANNA FAIL !

" I don't care which Party takes me in . I have a pension for life either way...."

In what appears to be an exclusive* to this blog ,we can confirm ** that Mary Harney has rejoined the Fianna Fail party : our exclusive picture , below , is a 'Best Wishes...' advertisement to the 'Lucan Festival' Committee ,which was published on Page 8 of a local newspaper , 'The Local News', (Dublin) West Edition , in its 24 September 2009 issue :

The advertisement which Mary Harney placed....

...in this Dublin West local newspaper.

The telephone number on the ad is the number for Mary Harney's constituency office but , when we rang it , seeking confirmation that, once again, Harney had jumped ship , a voice from the past told us that his Boss was unavailable , as she was last seen in a helicopter , on her way to wash the blood and dirt from her hands in an outside lavatory. However , the kind gentleman did tell us that Mary will be in the toilet for a few hours as she is trying to get rid of what she apparently believes to be dirt under her fingernails and also confirmed to us that, no matter which political party Mary joins , she will always lean to the right -

"Just try and not injure yourself when exercising. The State health programme is in worse shape than I am...."

That office worker assured us that Mary will be making an official announcement on Wednesday next, 30th September , at One pm , in Parnell Square, Dublin , and stated that he believes thousands of her "grateful subjects" will be present.....

(* Either an 'Exclusive' or a misprint by the 'The Local News' newspaper! / ** "Confirm" , that is, that Harney never really left Fianna Fail , nor them her: they both share the same 'anti-worker/pro-bailout-the-bankers' policies.)
Thanks!
Sharon.

'Incident Number 20' : A British Army patrol was fired on and one British soldier was hit on 14 July 1981 when walking down the Falls Road in Belfast.

RUC Constable Allen gave evidence as to maps of the area , then RUC Constable Holmes gave evidence about cartridges being found at the scene. Six British Army Marines were also called to give 'evidence' . Harry Kirkpatrick had said in his deposition that Gerard Steenson and Paddy McAreevey had fired at that British Army patrol , even though Kirkpatrick had not taken the stand in court at that stage.

It then emerged that the forensic scientist had not made up his mind as to what type of gun had fired the shots until after Kirkpatrick had related the incident to the RUC. The British Army Marines had made statements saying that high velocity shots had been fired at them , that they had intensive training in this area and knew what they were talking about. But now at the 'trial' they weren't so sure.......

CIA SLAMS IRISH JUDGE.......
A Dublin District Justice was accused by American embassy intelligence personnel of encouraging left wing agitators and tolerating hostile acts against the United States.......
From 'MAGILL' magazine, 'Christmas Special' 1980.

The FBI farce continued and the documentation reached Tolstoian proportions . The San Francisco FBI wrote to the FBI Director to congratulate themselves "...on the superior handling of this extremely difficult assignment.." and they mentioned "...the exemplary performance of an extremely delicate assignment in a hostile environment.." , resolving that they would "...submit recommendations for recognition of the outstanding performance of the FBI agents involved.." .

This "outstanding performance" involved crossing a room to hand some paperwork to Mairín de Burca ! One could only imagine the self-congratulation if those FBI agents were to , say, organise a break-in at the Watergate Hotel...

Anyway - much of the files of any intelligence agency are made up of non-classified information , which the agency involved simply gathers together from a multiplicity of commonly-known facts , in order to make available to government policy makers a context in which to make its decisions. Such facts are gathered from newspapers , informants , agents' deductions and the noting of speeches by various people.......

A few months ago , after a drug pusher claimed she had been intimidated , the gardai arrested independent Leinster House member Tony Gregory, (Provisional) Sinn Féin's Christy Burke and five other community activists. They were all released without charge when they refused to answer questions. The apparent reason for this garda behaviour is based on their opposition to any socially-involved community movement which is outside their control.

The gardai have cynically used the drugs crisis as a pretext for more legislation and the setting-up of 'neighbourhood watch' schemes , which are little more than an exercise in snooping and which the gardai probably hope to extend in due course to include keeping an eye out for political 'subversives' .

In contrast , the 'Concerned Parents Against Drugs'(CPAD)group have refused to hand over the names of addicts or pushers to the gardai and have relied - with some considerable success - on community pressure alone to cope with the activities of pushers. However , the pushers themselves , knowing that the gardai would turn a blind eye , have on occasion attempted to intimidate the CPAD group.......

EVE OF ALL-IRELAND RALLY 2009 : brief report and pictures.

Na Fianna Éireann at the Eve of All-Ireland Rally , 19 September 2009.

'NO TO LISBON' banner on RSF Dublin Office.

The annual Eve of All-Ireland Rally was held today , Saturday September 19th 2009 , in Dublin. The earlier-than-usual start (ie 12 Noon , to facilitate the 1pm 'Anti NAMA' protest march) caused some confusion amongst supporters and members of the public , dozens of whom only appeared as the Rally was finishing. However , altogether approximately between one and two hundred RSF members and supporters (on both sides of O'Connell Street and on the traffic isle) were present between 12 Noon and 1.20pm for the Rally.

Des Dalton , Chairing the proceedings at the GPO today.

About three thousand various RSF leaflets (that is , approximately 500 'booklets' of leaflets , each 'booklet' containing five or six leaflets) were distributed to the crowds on O'Connell Street , with about another thousand single 'VOTE NO TO LISBON' RSF leaflets distributed early this morning in the Stephens Green area of Dublin city centre.

Padráig Garvey , Kerry , speaking at the Rally.

State 'security', as usual ,made its unwanted presence felt , in the shape of six uniformed gardai and at least five members of the political police, the 'special branch' but, thankfully, for the most part, they stayed in the background . RSF , again, as usual, had its own Stewards on site but, due to the fact that the State 'security' stayed, for the most part, at a distance, no trouble occurred.

Fergal Moore , Monaghan, speaking at the Rally.

When the Rally finished at the GPO , most of the RSF members and supporters walked up O'Connell Street to the Garden of Remembrance to add their number to the approximate two or three thousand people who were forming-up to take part in the 'Anti NAMA' protest. All-in-all , it was a day well spent by RSF , who not only got their own Republican message across to tens of thousands of people in O'Connell Street , but were also able to offer their support to the hundreds of thousands of people who are being financially squeezed by the corrupt , useless and free-loading millionaire politicians in Leinster House.
A job well done to all who attended either/both events today!

A full report of this Eve of All-Ireland Rally , and more photographs, will be published in the October 2009 issue of 'SAOIRSE' , which goes to print on Wednesday , 30th of this month.
Thanks!
Sharon.

NO TO LISBON , NO TO NAMA , NO TO THE GREEDY CAREER POLITICIANS!

The Annual Eve Of All-Ireland Rally will , as stated, be held at an earlier-than-usual time this year , to allow members, supporters and on-lookers time to attend this worthy protest.

The Lisbon Constitution/Treaty is a bad deal for the citizens of this State , but offers the unproductive millionaire politicians in Leinster House further opportunities to enrich themselves at taxpayers expense whilst the NAMA proposals are , in effect , those same politicians mis-using taxpayers money to bail out their paid-for 'YES' men in the banking and property development sectors.

On Friday October 2nd 2009 , we will have an opportunity to tell those useless political leeches that they are living beyond our means - VOTE NO TO LISBON !
Thanks!
Sharon.

. Based on a full transcript of the Kirkpatrick trials , the story of how these convictions were obtained shows why the 'Supergrass System' is a pale shadow of justice.
By Derek Dunne. From 'MAGILL' magazine, February 1986.

When February 1985 came around and the 'trial' began , the twenty-seven accused had served an aggregate of thirty-five years between them - the equivalent of seventy years in sentencing terms. There had been thirty-three in the dock , of whom three had jumped bail ; one of those , John O' Reilly, is currently in Portlaoise Jail fighting an extradition order whilst the other two are facing separate 'trials' .

Harry Kirkpatrick's sister , Michelle , and his brother-in-law were also granted separate 'trials' . One of the defendants , Thomas Molloy, made statements to the RUC which were challenged - most of those statements related to incidents that had occurred since Kirkpatrick had been arrested and they were not used in any way to corroborate Kirkpatrick's account of what he claimed happened and , in many instances, they contradicted directly what Kirkpatrick had claimed !

Some of the British Crown witnesses changed their evidence between the time of the 'incident' itself and the 'trial' of the twenty-seven accused : 'Incident Number 20' was indicative of this.......

From 'MAGILL' magazine, 'Christmas Special' 1980.

The two FBI agents then entered a note marked 'Confidential' into their file . It was headed - 'Women's groups in Ireland ; National Women Committee , Irish Women United , Irish Country Women's Association , Trade Union Women's Forum and the Women Peace Movement' . The information in that file was subsequently transferred to other FBI files and even today is on tap from the FBI computers for use by any FBI agent sent over to Ireland to infiltrate the Irish womens movement. So , if you meet someone on their way in from the airport , speaking with an American accent and asking for the "National Women Committee" or the "Irish Country Women Association" you can be reasonably sure that they've been briefed by the FBI !

At the end of the meeting the two FBI agents served papers on Mairin de Burca , thereby starting a flurry of controversy over FBI surveillance of the campus . One student wrote to her Congressman , John L. Burton, enclosing a newspaper clipping of a report on the actions of the FBI agents. When Burton wrote to the FBI seeking an explanation they promptly added the newspaper clipping to their files! The FBI then marked with an 'X' the names of three students mentioned in the clipping , presumably with the intention of opening files on those students.

Several months later the FBI agents' notes were retyped in a file stamped 'Secret and Confidential' . At one point in her speech , it was noted that Mairin de Burca mentioned by name another Irish feminist - this name was also marked with an 'X' and was underlined , with a handwritten note wrote beside it which read "No Loc" , indicating perhaps that the FBI were unable to locate any reference to this person in their files . It could also indicate that this person had 'no loc' on her bike ; either way , the whole thing is irrelevant and a waste of American taxpayers money.......

The actions of the gardai , though, go further than merely turning a blind eye to the activities of drug pushers. In many instances they have actually seemed to side with the pushers against the Concerned Parents against Drugs groups(CPAD) that have sprung up in Dublin communities. Parents attending local meetings to discuss the drug problem have been stopped on their way out and questioned . ('1169..' Comment : that particular misdirected State action is still happening to this day - 'ordinary' [ie non-members] supporters taking part in a picket or protest , or attanding a fund-raiser, are stopped and harassed by the Political Police [Special Branch] on their way home from the event.)

Those stopped are told by the Special Branch that the anti-drugs campaign is a political 'front' and that they should have nothing more to do with it . The gardai have also gone to pubs and chip shops where drugs have been sold and which have been marched on by CPAD groups, and told the proprietors to have nothing to do with the anti-drugs campaign.

In January 1984 , the Chairperson of the Dolphin House Community Development Association, Noel Sillery, was held for two days under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act and questioned about the anti-drugs campaign.......
