AFTER TRUCE AND TREATY : THE GROOM TURNED ON HIS BEST MAN...
In the 1940's, in Ireland, this Irish republican Volunteer was the 'Best Man' at the wedding of one of his comrades, and all went well on the day.
But, 'after Truce and Treaty and the parting of the ways', that groom signed the order for his 'Best Man' to be executed...
In the 1950's, this Leinster House representative attempted to 'play the religious card' in relation to the on-going British military and political presence in six of our counties...
In the late 19th Century, this well-got Donegal Gentleman recognised the ills wrought on Irish society by the British presence, but hoped that he could 'tweak' those ills to be of less consequence...
In Ireland, in 2002 as with now (2023), the gap is widening between children and their parents and - again, then as now - State-sponsored intervention is working an agenda in the not-so-distant background...
From 1987 - different State reactions to military strikes, depending on which finger is on the trigger...
