Ireland was Britain's first colonial possession to challenge its power this century and, since then, Britain has constantly retreated...' (if so, it's due to the fact that the 'soup-takers' are doing the job for her.)
From 1922 - this man was involved in the financing of the Republican Movement but the Staters eventually got to him ; he spent a few years in State exile before, unfortunately, throwing his lot in with the same people that had exiled him...
