A 'CAT' TALE FROM IRELAND ABOUT A 'WOLF'...

Getting back into the swing of things now, after the three of us had a lil' break (but only one of us had guaranteed sunshine and a beach only a ten-minute walk away!).

We'll have a 14-piece post ready for this blog on Wednesday, 4th June next, included in which will be a few paragraphs about the following pieces -

From the 1920's, in the Occupied Six Counties - a 'cat' tale about a 'wolf', a fox, a hare and an IRA arrest of a 'legal eagle'(!)...

A 1996 connection between Islamic Jihad, Mossad and a missing Irishman...?

Ireland, 1920's - Crown Force transportation throughout the country was immediately affected by this rebel blow and, when the foreigners were trying to deal with that, two of their ex-or-maybe-not-so-ex comrades, who were out for a ramble in a seaside town, received 'blows' of their own...

1920's, in what was to become - and still is - the Occupied Six Counties : a change of uniform got these rebel fighters in to the British jail, through the 'front door' (for a change), as they needed to pay a visit to some of their fellow rebels in that institution...

...and that's just a taster ; there'll be skin-on-the-bones of them, and about ten other pieces, on Wednesday, 4th June 2025.

Catch ye then!

Thanks for reading - see y'all on the 4th!

"ANOTHER FINE MESS..."

"A pretty mess you're making of the whole thing..."

- more or less the words spoken by the highest-ranking British Army leadership figure in Ireland, in the 1920's.

And those words, those comments, those expressions of exasperation, were directed at his own people, particularly at one of his own 'legally recognised' para-military groups in Ireland...

Who was that leadership figure?

Which pro-British grouping was it directed at?

What exactly did he say...?

All of the above questions (and lots more!) will be answered here on Wednesday, 23rd April 2025.

So...

..if'n ya don't want us asking questions about yer absence, come back to us then!

Thanks for droppin' by - see ya on the 23rd, hopefully!

IRELAND, 1919 - AN 'AFFAIR OF THE HEART' OR...?

DROPPING OFF SOME GOODIES ON THE 18TH...

..Wednesday the 18th December 2024, that is..

...but not, unfortunately, the best 'Goodie' that we wish we were delivering - a United Ireland.

And as sure as the 18th and the 25th will come, so will our best Goodie!

But, for now, yis will have to make do with the dozen-or-so pieces that we'll be posting here on Wednesday, 18th December, 2024, included in which will be the full script for the following pieces -

In the late 19th Century, before the working-class were properly unionised (...some would say they still aren't today, as the trade unions are staffed by mostly careerists, who see their careers on the opposite side of the negotiating table. And, in our opinion, the "some" that say that would be right!), the workers in this particular industry got together and formed themselves into a sort of 'representative body' which didn't hold back when it came to 'negotiating'. But then they were infiltrated and betrayed...

Ireland, 1919 - perhaps it was an 'affair of the heart', or guilt about how he had conducted himself, or maybe his British Army comrades were pushing him to be more 'macho' in his dealings with the Irish...? But, whatever it was, the only way out that he could apparently see was a farewell note and a long walk off a short pier...

Westminster, 1919 - figures were announced by a top politician in relation to their 'spending', financially and militarily ('man power'), in Ireland : a shocking amount for both which, considering Britain itself was societally in the doldrums, should have made them think twice but, apparently, didn't faze them one bit...

In reference to an article from 2002 - "...one of the main differences between the unvetted and illegal Irish in America, who are willing - indeed, anxious - to earn their keep and not be a burden or a threat to the American people, and the fake and/or dangerous so-called 'refugees' who are, at the time of writing, in this State in their tens of thousands, leeching off the abilities of State taxpayers, overpowering the indigenous Irish and our whole social welfare system and destroying us societally..."

So do, please, give us a shout on Wednesday, 18th December 2024, and if'n ya don't...

..then we'll know yer being naughty, not nice!

Thanks for the visit, and for reading - see ya on the 18th!

Sharon and the team.

FROM LATE 2024 - TOLD YA IT WAS COMIN'...!

OCTOBER NOTIFICATION VERIFIED...

..and we did mention it in (early) October, on the blog.

But - if you can't remember ('cause let's face it, other stuff happened ya in October..!) or you're just not bothered to check back and find out what I'm on about, then tune in here again on Wednesday, 6th November 2024 and we'll give ya the full skinny...!

(...well..maybe not the 'full' skinny, 'cause we actually don't know the full of it just yet ourselves...!)

Thanks for the visit, and for reading - more on the 6th!

'STATUS IN SOCIETY' - A DANGER TO OTHERS...

We've almost pieced together a 16-part post for Wednesday, 23rd October 2024, one of which will be mentioning a rather well-got young Toff in Dublin, in the 18th Century who, wanting to maintain his 'Toffness' (!) decided, with his equally-well-got circle of friends, to use a business he owned for non-business-like purposes.

They had familial connections with the British military and, believing that their 'status in society' was under threat from Irish rebels, availed of those connections to pinpoint targets whom they considered to be a danger to their so-called social standing.

The well-got group then took it on themselves to 'branch out', and soon enough any 'scruff/vagabond' that they lifted off the street was taken back to the business premises and 'interrogated'...

Also from our Dublin files we'll have a few paragraphs about a still-unresolved shooting in Dublin in the 1920's during which two armed men walked into a shop and shot the shopworker dead.

Westminster-appointed 'officials' in Dublin immediately blamed the IRA for the shooting, but the owners of the shop challenged them on that claim...

And, from the 1920's as well, but not in Dublin, we'll be saying a few words about a rebel ambush on British forces which was discussed in the British Parliament in the week after it happened but, instead of inspiring those British politicians towards the notion of actually removing their troops out of harms way - ie considering a military and political withdrawal from Ireland - they were belied into believing that the 'solution' was to present the rebels with even more targets, albeit better armed ones...

That's just three of the sixteen pieces we'll be writing about on Wednesday, 23rd October 2024 - so, if'n ya don't wannabe 'Piece 17', y'all get yer ass back here then, and read about someone else's misfortune...!

Thanks for the visit, and for reading - see ya on the 23rd!

Sharon and the team.

IRELAND, 1960's - THE 'EMPIRE' ONCE AGAIN NEEDED DEFENDING.

Sweet 16!

...that's what we'll have ready for Wednesday, 9th October 2024, in our blog post : sixteen pieces, articles, instances, occurrences and/or other such stuff (!), all to do with our recent and not-so-recent historical and political past.

We'll have more info and detail on the following...

Westminster, late 1960's - an attempt to mislead world interest about 'an incident' in Ireland was only hours away from being made, and the British propagandists behind their oak desks were holding their last meeting before the 'big reveal'. They were somewhat nervous, but confident, as this wasn't their first such rodeo...

Westminster, 1900's - communication between high-ranking British Government politicians showed that they considered practically any offer to the Irish rebels to be 'a bridge too far' : "It would break-up our government..."

'Money, money, money' : a 20th Century 'cat and mouse game' between the British and their military and political agents in Ireland, England and further abroad and the military and political agents of the Irish 'dissidents' - but more than money was at stake, and both sides knew it...

..and thirteen other pieces (..well, fourteen, really, but in the last one we'll be mentioning a date in the near future!)

So do, please, give us a click on Wednesday, 9th October 2024. If yer not entirely happy with what ya find, let us know, won't ya?

And we'll block ya...!

Thanks for the visit, and for reading ; call again and be amazed (or blocked!) on the 9th!

IRELAND, 1900's - 'NO SHAME WOULD ATTACH TO A REFUSAL...'

IRELAND, 1900's - VOLUNTEERS HANDPICKED AS ASSASSINS.

The IRA leadership were aware that not all Volunteers would be capable of doing what they were about to be asked, and made it clear that no shame would attach to a refusal - that those that weren't prepared to go that far 'down in the mire' would be tasked elsewhere.

A core group put themselves forward, after their objective was explained, and their contact details were collected.

A second grouping of Volunteers, to operate as 'stand-ins', was organised to supplement the first group, when required, and .38's were exchanged for .45's...

...and that's just one of the eighteen pieces we'll be writing about, on Wednesday, 18th September 2024.

To our eternal shame, our impropriety and our dishonor, this fine Irish rebel woman was buried in a paupers plot in the 19th century. Despite the public pain and disappointment she endured, and the reasons she endured that suffering, she was discarded.

Mea culpa...

Wrestling with deaf dragons and gorillas who know nothing and care nothing in 19th century Ireland - rogues, called out by a 'toff' with 'royal' blood with a green tint...

England, 19th century - their 'Irish problem' had, once again, being brought to their doorstep as a result of 'suspicions the authorities had that these Irishmen were about to commit an offence'. The 'court case', such as it was, went ahead, even though the verdict had already been decided...

As stated, we have an 18-part post almost ready for Wednesday, 18th September 2024 : sure the only thing we ain't got yet is a promise from yerself that you'll pop-in then, but ya will, won't ya...?!

(PS - Hello to Josh, the 'old woman' [play on words there!] from North GGS who'll be joining us on the 18th : hope we don't let ya down or, if we do, that it's gently...!)

Thanks for the visit, and for reading : see y'all on the 18th!

Sharon and the team.

DONEGAL, 1920 - THE 'HARD MAN' WITH A TENDER BELLY...

In the 1920's, this man fought tooth-and-nail for the implementation of an Irish republican agenda in a 32-County Ireland, and fought viciously, on a full time basis, for six years, to achieve that objective.

But his political and military 'about face' caught his (ex-)IRA comrades on the hop, and his direct actions personally caused hundreds of people the loss of a loved one.

He lived for a few hours after he happened to meet, by chance, some of the brave men he had described as 'criminals' ; hopefully, he was lucid enough to ponder on all his sins...

In the 1920's, these voluntary 'servants of the Crown' in Ireland were left in no doubt that their servitude was not appreciated by all - those they served were happy to have them on board their imperialist wagon and 'bigged them up', socially, as they knew that was reward enough for them...

This 'Hardman for the Crown' in the Donegal area had forged a reputation for himself among his peer group as a man to be admired : however, those outside that group decided to 'pepper him' into realising that their were others who though less kindly of his actions...

On Wednesday, 10th July 2024, we'll be posting a 26-part blog post in which we'll put the finishing touches and a lot more detail to the above three pieces, and we'll be doing the same to twenty-three other articles. We had hoped to get to a 32-piece posting, but sure yis are all Free Staters out there so 26 should make ye feel at home...!

So if you're passing this way again on Wednesday, 10th July next, give us a shout, won't ya!

Thanks for the visit, and for reading - see ya on the 10th!

MILITARY AND PARAMILITARY 'HAWKS AND DOVES' IN IRELAND IN THE 1920's.

And we're back!

...and we were right about the family gig that kept us out of action last Wednesday : it took the two days before it to properly finalise it, and three days after it to recover from it.

As expected, when ya have two football-team-full of immediate family members to help organise, plus the 'subs', the back-room 'staff' and - of course - the 'fans'!

Anyway - we're working on a 15-part blog post that we should have ready for Wednesday, 15th May 2024, for all you refs and hawkeye's (!) out there to scrutinise, including a few more paragraphs on all of the following -

In the 1920's, two members of the Crown Forces were surrounded in a wooded area by IRA Volunteers and executed but, as they were leaving the scene, the Volunteers were noticed by a local girl who had spoken to the British about what she witnessed. She knew questions were being asked about her and, true enough, a knock came to her door. But...

1900's - a conference, held abroad, was thought to be the perfect venue for Irish republicans to make their case for Irish freedom but, five months into it, they realised that the cards were stacked against them...

1920's - a love-letter (not!), on branded notepaper that the recipient themselves used, was dropped through letterboxes quoting a Biblical verse. But those that delivered those missives soon had reason to read the words themselves...

1920's - British military and paramilitary 'hawks and doves' in Ireland squawked at each other when the big vulture in Westminster played 'favourites'...

1920's - on this, the second attempt on his life, his attackers were successful. All involved were IRA Volunteers, but the real reason for the attack remains shrouded in half-truths, rumour and/or purposeful misdirection. Or does it...?

So, if you're interested in the full-time results (groan!) for the above, and about another ten pieces, then score with us (groan again...) on Wednesday, 15th May 2024.

And apologises for the above pitch...

Thanks for reading - see ye on Wednesday, 15th May 2024!

Sharon and the team.

'MAKING A NAME' FOR HIMSELF IN IRELAND, IN 1921...

We're dottin' the 't's' and a-crossin' the 'i's' or whatever on a 15-part post that we're getting ready for Wednesday, 28th February 2024, with one piece highlighting how the newly-minted (!) Staters had to have their proposed script approved by Westminster before they could talk about it to Irish republicans!

And we'll also have a few more words to say about the following -

The British savagely executed this Irishman and labeled him as "a common criminal" but had already exposed themselves as propagandists in doing so by the manner in which they prosecuted him...

From the 1900's - this young man, an RAF pilot, was 'flying high' over Dublin, nearing his destination, when his aircraft developed a problem and he was forced to crash land. He wasn't killed in the crash, but...

1920's in Ireland - these armed British Army soldiers didn't sign up to open, close, adjust and repair 'giant taps' or to maintain crops in the Irish countryside, and probably never seen themselves as union scabs either, but that's what they became...

In 1921, this RIC man, from England, 'made a name for himself' in one particular engagement with the IRA in Cork, and liked to 'trade' on it until, while out with his colleagues one day, his 'credit' ran out...

So don't forget us on Wednesday, 28th February 2024 - see y'all back here then!

Thanks for the visit, and for reading.

Sharon and the team.

'DORA' WASN'T PRETTY IN IRELAND...

THE BRITISH 'DORA' IN IRELAND.

...and we're back, after our 'working holiday'!

We had an eventful break (!), and enjoyed the two gigs laid on by the Movement, during and after the working days, but would ask that they be spaced-out better next year.

I mean, four days recovery time between gigs just isn't enough...!

And meself and the two lads have been busy - we are putting together a 12-piece post for Wednesday, 6th December 2023, mentioning happenstances ("Ya wha', Shar...?!) in connection with Irish history and politics that took place between 1919 and 2002, including...

......what one high-ranking British military and political member of the British 'Establishment' wrote, in the 1920's, about what he considered to be a 'sell out' to the Irish...

...how, in the 1950's, the GAA in New York came together and organised itself in connection with events to organise funds for the Republican Movement in Ireland...

...the birth of a journalistic 'Con' artist and his alleged encounter with a committed Irish republican on a city street...

...from 2002 - "..the institutional Church has suffered a serious decline in confidence.." - but such a "serious decline" is not a death knell...

...and a few more articles mentioning events that took place between 1919 and 1925.

So please do check back with us on Wednesday, 6th December 2023 : and sure we might even tell ya a bit more about the two gigs we attended.

Or we might not...!

Thanks for the visit, and for reading : hope to see ya on the 6th!

IRELAND 1923 - DELAYING TACTIC WELCOMED BY BOTH SIDES.

On Wednesday, 15th November 2023, we'll be putting up a five-piece post which - magically! - will turn into a seven-parter right in front of your lil' curious eyes...!

Among the pieces we'll be writing about are the following -

"Vengeance may be slow, but it’s sure...not a tooth for a tooth, but 50 to 1.." - a warning published by a pro-British armed gang in Ireland in the 1920's...

From 1955 - "There will be many whom history will judge harshly for their sin of omission..."

From 2002 - A few years ago, reliance on therapists and pills would have been regarded by Irish people as among the worst kind of excesses typifying American society ; now we have abandoned any sense that it is normal to feel negative emotions...

From 1998 - 'Irish republicanism has outlasted the British Empire, thanks to determined people like Pearse. Ireland was Britain's first colonial possession to challenge its power this century and, since then, Britain has constantly retreated...' (if so, it's due to the fact that the 'soup-takers' are doing the job for her.)

From 1922 - this man was involved in the financing of the Republican Movement but the Staters eventually got to him ; he spent a few years in State exile before, unfortunately, throwing his lot in with the same people that had exiled him...

Thanks for the visit, and for reading : hope to see ye back here on Wednesday, 15th November 2023!

Sharon and the team.

'TAKING THE SOUP' WITH THE MONEY-LENDERS...

GETTING READY...

..FOR A NINE-PARTER ON THE 18TH!

The British presence in Ireland gets its strength from the weakness of the Irish, by seducing, subduing and/or executing those they deem to be strong enough to stand up to them : a lesson from over 230 years ago...

19th Century Ireland - three political 'snakes-in-the-grass' held their venom until they had their victims where they wanted them - at the ballot box, deaf to the 'hiss'...

This 19th Century Irish alphabet became a battle-cry for the dispossessed and the down-trodden, and acted as a rallying point for those opposed to the many State agents who came hammering at their door...

In Ireland, family bonds and a powerful extended family network held the people together but the 'Establishment' viewed such attributes as a challenge to them and endeavoured to 'break the connection'. And they are still doing so...

From 1998 - a published Irish republican work that is not merely a manual for activism but a bible of endurance, which still stands as true today as it did then...

Westminster labeled Irish resistance as acts of murder, outrage and intimidation against the "law and order" of the land and then continued on arming murderers to cause outrage in Ireland with 'lawful' acts of intimidation against the population...

These ex-Irish rebels took the soup as they were counting their thirty pieces of profit and then sought to 'officially honour' the men and women that they had deserted in their rush to get to the soup cauldron and the banker...

In the 1920's in Ireland, this RIC man knew that his actions, and the command structures that he answered to, were in the wrong but, unlike his militia comrades who felt the same way, he just didn't determine to do 'less wrong' - he vowed to 'do right'. And he did...

...and a few words about our recent 'staycation'. But not too many, now, as any details we give may yet be used as evidence against us...!

Thanks for droppin' in, and for reading ; and, with a nine-parter comin' at ya on Wednesday, 18th October 2023, yer gonna have a quare bit of reading to do then. Give us a shout on the 18th...!

Sharon and the team.

FROM 1958 : THREE STRIKES, ALL OUT...!

The 'score' from this particular sporting occasion was 2 - 0, and it's an 'outing' that is still being talked about in Irish republican circles...!

In the mid-19th Century in Ireland, these two sniveling con-men managed to financially secure themselves, and their family members, at the expense of honest people who took them at their word...

Westminster demanded that an 'Oath of Allegiance' to their 'monarch' be agreed to by Irish republicans, who - rightly - wouldn't do so. But then a crack in the Movement developed, and those who were once dependable activists fell through it...

New families, but family support not to hand ; green-field sites, usually miles from any infrastructural support networks. Living beside strangers with the same concerns. Expensive 'pressure cookers'...

An English madman in Ireland, armed and supported by Westminster, left his mark in blood but someone marked his true presence in ink...

We'll be giving a bit more detail re the above snippets on Wednesday, 27th September 2023, so if you're over this side of the interweb on the 27th, do check in on us, won't ya...!

Thanks for the visit, and for reading : hope to see ye all on the 27th!

Sharon and the team.

'IRISH WAYS...

..AND IRISH LAWS'.

Ireland, 1930's - this young Irish republican was driven to extremes by the constant evil inflicted on him by the Free State 'authorities' who held him captive...

This enemy of Irish republicanism, who actually considered himself to be a fellow worker for the objectives of the Movement, was not able to convey republican sentiments either verbally or in writing, and was exposed as the deluded fraud he was...

From the 1900's in Ireland - an example of how NOT to try and silence your enemy and, in the process of NOT doing so, actually enriching them, financially as well as in the publicity stakes...!

An '1169' comment in relation to an article from 2002 in which our old ways were praised - mentioning how much they're missed and why it is that they are disappearing to the point of being extinct. 'Woke' readers beware.

From 1987 - British 'royal' visitors in Ireland and who it was that they decided not to 'visit' while in this country...

From the 1920's - this particular day is not especially marked, commemorated or remembered in our history, but it was a bloody day in Dublin...

...and we'll be with ya on Wednesday 13th September 2023, with details on all of the above. But probably no more than that. 'Cause we figure that that's enough for ya to be gettin' on with...!

Thanks for the visit, and for reading ; see yis on the 13th!

AN OBSERVANT HOTEL WORKER AND THE TURMOIL IN IRELAND.

BY GUM (!) but we've been busy beavers here in '1169 Towers' over the past week!

I'm told that we'll have a 9-parter ready to be unleashed on Wednesday, 16th August 2023, including a few paragraphs about two opposing armies, in 20th Century Ireland, who, at the same time, showed an interest in a piece of equipment that fell to earth, landing in an Irish county...

If that's not to your liking, there's gonna be a few other paragraphs about an immigrant kitchen worker in London who had an interest in the political and military turmoil in Ireland and learned lessons from what was happening here. He brought that knowledge back to his own country...

This political 'Senator' somehow considered it a good move to sing the praises of the A, B and C 'Specials', but was taken to task for being so naive...

In the 1920's, the IRA issued a warning about the financial activities of an "usurping junta" which was operating in the State, and advised institutions to avoid doing business with it...

And that's some of the nine pieces that we'll be writing about, here, on Wednesday, 16th August 2023, but it probably won't be an early morning post, as we're waiting on confirmation (or otherwise!) of a few of the names we'll be mentioning, and we might not have same until early afternoon on the 16th.

So bear with us - not bleedin' often we ask ya to do anything for us, is it...?!!

Thanks for the visit - and please do check back with us again on Wednesday, 16th August 2023 (...we need the 'clicks' to get us to two million hits..!)

See ye all then!

Sharon and the team.
